Shopping, Credit Cards and Foreign Exchange

Shopping:
Nepal has many fine handicrafts, such as hand-knotted woolen carpets, jewellery, pashmina shawls, knitted woollen wear, embroidered fabrics, Thangka paintings, Mithila paintings, wood carvings, metal work, ceramics and pottery, rice paper and stationery.

Credit Card:
Major credit cards such as MasterCard, American Express and Visa are honored and accepted at major hotels and restaurants.

Foreign Exchange:
Foreign currency must be exchanged only through the banks or authorized foreign exchange dealers. The receipt from such transaction is to be obtained and retained. Visitors can exchange money at the foreign exchange counter at the airport upon arrival, or at banks or money exchange centres.
