Darjeeling
Visa:
Foreign travelers visiting Darjeeling must posses a valid Indian visa. No special permit is required for either travelling or trekking in Darjeeling.??? However, necessary travel documents need to be shown as and when required.
Air Connection: In Nepal, the closest airport to Darjeeling is Bhadrapur (150 km; 5 hrs drive from Darjeeling)
Road Connection: Darjeeling is connected by road from Kathmandu
When to visit: All year round, except for the monsoons in July-August. The ideal period is January to May and September to December. Special monsoon packages are available for the paddy season.
Tour extensions: Nepal, Sikkim and Bhutan or any adventure activity in the Himalayas.
Sikkim
Visa/Special Permit For Foreigners:
In addition to an Indian visa, foreign travelers must possess an inner line permit, issued by the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs or New Sikkim House, both in New Delhi, or the Sikkim Tourism Office in Siliguri to visit Sikkim. The permit is valid for 15 days. In order to visit the interior regions, a protected area permit, which is obtainable in Gangtok from the Department of Tourism, is required. Light woollen clothing is recommended during the summer (maximum temperature 20.7 0 C) and heavy woollens during the winter (minimum 7.7 0C )
